Dear Supporter, Member and to all of our Great Volunteers

Following the Prime Minister’s February statement to the House of Commons on February 22nd  about the gradual easing of Covid-19 restrictions, Basketball England has updated its ‘Return to Play Guidance’.  This reflects a return to indoor activity for all Under 18s with effect from April 12th.

We are pleased to announce it is our current intention that all Under 18 training will recommence with effect from Saturday, April 24th, with indoor coaching for our Men’s Teams resuming on Tuesday, May 18th (please note that Coach Alex is currently exploring the possibility of outdoor training for the Men’s Teams ahead of May 18th, further information on which will follow).

Due to continuing uncertainty over the availability of Aylesford School, our Under 18s will be returning to our temporary venue at Cornwallis Academy, Hubbard’s Lane, Loose, Maidstone ME17 4HX (directions at the following link: https://goo.gl/maps/5zz7p76gP3wsFD487).

Each session will continue to finish 15 minutes early to allow enough time for changeover / sanitisation, as follows :-

U10s: year 5 and below (coaching 09:30 – 10:45am);

U12s: years 6 – 7 (coaching 11:00am – 12:15pm);

U14s: years 8 – 9 (coaching 12:30pm – 1:45pm);

U16s: years 10 – 11 (coaching 2:00 – 3:45pm); and

U18s: years 12 – 13) (coaching 2:00 – 3:45pm).

Our Return to Play Plan

Our Head Coach, Astley, has formulated a plan for the resumption of activities, comprising three phases: Restart,Revive and Reignite.  A copy of the agreed plan is attached and you will see that, in addition to an important emphasis on fitness in the initial phase, we are also planning to hold an All-Stars weekend on August 14th, further information on which will follow.  Subject to adequate COVID-19 protocols being in place, it is also our aim to arrange a competitive tournament against another Club.

Subs

Monthly subs will be resumed with effect from the planned return date of April 24th and will be charged on the date that your direct debit has previously been scheduled for.  Do please let me know before that date if your child will not be returning to training.

For those of you paying by term, you will recall that we discounted the term two subs to reflect the two month suspension of activities up to January 8th.  Similarly, the third and final term’s subs of £70 (due on May 8th) will be discounted by 70% (down to £21) to compensate for the further (12 week) suspension from January 30th to April 17th.

COVID-19 Protocols

We have agreed that the Club’s COVID-19 protocols that were in force previously will continue to be applied.  These are described further in our COVID-19 Guidance Note and the main points are summarised below :-

The Day Before Arrival

Your designated Team Manager will send a link / QR code to a secure COVID symptoms questionnaire, which must be completed before arrival.

Arrival (5 Minutes before Start of Session)

Please make your way directly to the entrance to the sports hall (down the steps to the right of the school’s main entrance and round the corner of the building), and wait in line while maintaining a one metre plus distance.  You will be greeted at the entrance for a temperature check and registration.  Please make sure you have your membership card with you for scanning.  If you do not currently have a card, please let me know if you would like to order a replacement (priced at £2), or print one off by logging onto MemberMojo, selecting ‘Your Membership’ / ‘ Membership Card’ and ‘View Card’.

All players will be required to use a hand sanitiser pump, situated on the Front Desk.  

A unique QR code poster will be displayed outside the entrance to the sports hall for scanning, using the Government’s Track & Trace app.  Due to the maximum limit of 30 people in the sports hall, we regret that, with the exception of the Under 10s session, parents / guardians are not permitted inside the building. 

Strict One-Way System

There will be a strict one-way system in operation and entry / exit signs will be on display.  All players will be required to exit through the doors on Court.

Mandatory Registration

All players must be registered with both the Club AND BEbefore they will be allowed to join the coaching sessions.

If you have not already done so, could you please ensure that you apply for a new player licence through BE at https://membership.basketballengland.co.uk

Further guidance on the BE licence renewal process can be found here and please ensure that you link to Maidstone Warriors, using the code CA0848.

For the purposes of the 2021/22 Season, we have taken up the option offered by BE of ‘banking’ the licence fee for the current season, meaning that the usual charge of £8.50 will not be payable when the new season starts in September.

Bibs and Basketballs

All players must bring their own reversible / numbered training bib, supplied free of charge on registration and are responsible for home washing and bringing to all coaching sessions (please note, there will be a charge for replacement bibs).

Players are strongly encouraged to bring their own basketball to training sessions, although Club balls will also be available.
